Corners of my home - circus

This is in my downstairs hallway, I believe this little niche was for the telephone, it has a fold down drawer that is the perfect size for the yellow pages (I can't remember the last time I opened the phonebook) . I bought these Fisher Price circus figures at a church rummage sale for 50¢ and love them... they make me smile.

Amelia-isms - my blanket

Scene: Walking up our stairs, Amelia behind me holding her favorite green baby blanket to her cheek.

Amelia: My blanket reminds me of you.

Me: It does... why?

Amelia: Because I love you.

If that doesn't stop you in your tracks nothing will.
I am so truly blessed by my girls.

Memory Monday - Prom 1990

Senior prom, wow that seems like so long ago. Here I am with my friends Aalece and Nancy. I got my dress in a trade, this dress is from another friend and she got a green dress my mom wore in a wedding. The dress was a bit big on me so I saftey pinned up the inside to fit. The back side has a big white ruffle down the back.

Can I stand any farther away from my date! This is Andy one of my brother's best friends, neither of us were dating anyone at the time so we went to prom together. I don't remember dancing with him, I think we both went off with our friends once we were at the dance.

I don't remember much else, except I remember two girls came to the prom together as dates, they "came out" at prom. And I remember my brother's girlfriend made her dress, it was metallic baby pink with a silver cumberbun and a wide leg coolot. It was a bit odd, but I give her props for the guts to sew and wear it.

Candy Corn Head

Anna loves candy corn and she saw a princess candy corn halloween costume in a magazine, so that's what she wants to be. So I thought it would be fun to make her this cute hat on Amelia's new knitting loom. It was so quick and easy and she was super surpsied when I showed it to her, saying... Oh Mama, thank you, thank you.

I'm lucky to have little girls to dress up so cute.

I had the time of my life..

Patrick Swayze died today, how sad... I am a big fan of the Dirty Dancing movie. The movie came out in 1987, I was 15, my parents wouldn't let me see it because my aunt told them it was about a young girl having sex, sexy dancing and an abortion was involved. Well, I finally saw the movie and loved it just like thousands of young girls from my generation loved it. I wanted to be "baby", she had such an exciting summer.

I loved the dancing, the story, the clothes and I love the oldies music throughout, so this movie hit a cord with me. I have the sound track on my ipod and often sing along to... how do you call your lover boy... oh lover boy!

Memory Monday - Girl Scout Horse Camp

I am going to be one of the Girl Scout leaders for my daughter's Daisy troop, I am excited to do this since I have so many fond memories of being a Girl Scout. I went to my first leaders meeting last week and it brought back so many memories I have forgotten.

Above is a photo of Melony and my dear friends Edna & Ursula. It was 1987 and we went to Camp Cedarledge in Mo. We were doing the horse camp program called WITS (Wranglers-In-Training), my nickname was Pokey, Edna thinks it was because I was slow moving in the 104 heat wave. Edna & Ursula did not have nicknames since when they told our counselors their real names they thought the names were nicknames, ha... Edna & Ursula are very unusual names.

I remember hanging out in our cots reading our daily mail from home, I remember walking up to the stables every morning calling the horses down and feeding them, I remember that was the first time I saw two horses "getting busy", I remember Edna's foot getting stepped on by a horse. I remember the biggest horse flies I have ever seen and how they bite! I remember taking the horses on a long ride and camping out in the woods, sleeping in hammocks in the trees and hearing the horses softly neigh all night... I really remember having so much fun I didn't want to go home.

Don't I look cool with my short blue shorts and mesh hat... oh and I had to wear the bandanna, I was a WIT!

Milk Jug Mama

We are collecting milk jugs for a big project in December and we need at least 250 jugs. So I asked my friends, family and neighbors to save me jugs. I also asked the kindergarten Moms from Amelia's class.

Each day the Mom's have been bringing me a jug or two at pick up, but yesterday I got 13 jugs! Luckily I had the stroller for Anna and we piled them on, we looked a little odd walking home and I did get a few double takes from drivers. It made me laugh... we have about 80 jugs... keep bringing those jugs!

Where are the pumpkins?

I know we planted the pumpkin seed a little late... end of June. But I thought we might have one or two small pumpkins by now. We have a lot of vines and big yellow flowers, but not one pumpkin! When I go out to look for them I feel like Linus, waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive! Where are the pumpkins?

I might have to buy a few and pop them in the garden it surprise the girls.

Memory Monday - Alpha Xi Delta Spring Formal

I am starting a new segment called "Memory Monday". I have such a bad memory and I figure I need to write about my past so I don't forget it all someday. Above is a photo of me with my sorority sisters: Julie, Stacie L., Stacey E. and Angela. These were some of my pledge sisters and my best buddies though out my college years.

Yes, that's me on the end with the disco ball dress. I remember shopping for this dress with my Mom and how pretty I thought it was. It was fitted through the top, with a drop waist and a full gray skirt that came just above my knee. I was a bold move, back then I always like the different... clothes with a twist. If I remember correctly this formal dance was held in St. Louis on the President Riverboat, this was when it still floated down the river. My date was a guy named Donny, he was a Lambda Chi from University of Missouri,Rolla.

This new segment might become "funny photos of Tracy" we'll see what happens.

The Collector

We call Anna our little collector, she is always picking up nature related items off the ground and about 3 weeks ago she started making a pile on our front porch. I have a no rocks, sticks, etc. in the house rule and you can see why, I don't need this pile in my living room.

As you can see she has categorized the like items together and has them set up perfectly. She really does not like when people bother her goodies. I think we are going to have to move her collection soon before the mailman slips on an acorn and breaks his hip.
