Make your own miniature potion bottles!

We made these halloween bottles using these items below.

Other items in this halloween scene...

Most of these as you can see you just put the items like the beads or feathers into the jar. For the eyeballs we colored circles on the balls to make the colored part of the eye and the black part of the eye. For the organs we put bits of white and red ribbon and cording into the jar and added the red food coloring. For the dragon scales we flattened a tiny bit of sculptey clay and baked it. Then we cut it up into tiny scale like pieces.

For all of the bottles we made tags or labels out of paper and either taped or glued them on and some we added a bit of thread around the top.

These were so easy and fun to make... Happy Halloween!

Spring Break Day 1

The girls have had the same room decor since they were born except for a bed updates. They have been asking for purple walls so we compromised and agreed to paint one of the walls purple. Which actually works well since the other walls are green and their bedding is purple and green. Plus there is a mural of the claddagh symbol that we painted on the wall for the nursery and Brian and I are not really to paint over it just yet.

Today I put the girls to work... they were so excited to help paint. They loved it! I on the other hand I was a bit stressed and had to hold myself back from jumping in and taking over. They actually did do a pretty good job, I did not have to do too much touch up.

Later I pulled almost everything out of their room, wow... were was all this junk hiding! We will need to go through all this junk before any of it goes back into their room.

Photos of the finished room coming later this week.

The Fantastic Mr. Pops

This past Christmas Brian (aka Pops) and I agreed not to spend a lot on each other. Our big gift for the house was a gas buring fireplace and new windows for the front of the house, that was plenty!

I did ask Brian to make me a jewelry holder. I had seen something like it online and knew it was something he could make with very little money ( just the cost of the hooks). The weeks before Christmas went by and he never mentioned it and I never saw him in the garage painting so I thought for sure he had forgotten about it. He's the type of guy that you need to remind him several times to do things.

Christmas morning arrived and I was so surprised to open my awesome new jewelry holder, I really can't believe that he remembered, and it was perfect! No more tangled necklaces, I can see them all and it makes me so happy.

Mr. Pops... you are fantastic!

Corners of my home - Valentine Mantle

I love to decorate my mantle for the holidays but I didn't really have anything for February/Valentines, so this year I finally pulled something together.
I only spent $17 total, the one thing I bought were these cool vintage highway metal letters spelling LOVE from this Etsy shop. Scrabble tiles were from our game, this could be cute for many different holidays.
The rest of the items I had. I did make the LOVE print in the frame, I had the frame and worked up the print. I also made the heart garland, it's just cut out hearts stitched together on the sewing machine. The white paper flowers I made years ago, usually they are in my china cabinet.

Check back on Feb 1st, I'll have the LOVE print up so you can download it for FREE!

Tree Trouble

Last Saturday morning it was raining with a light wind when the girls and I heard a loud thundering noise that shook the house. Brian ran upstairs yelling... are you all o.k? Yes, we were all o.k!
I went downstairs and realized what had happened, a tree fell on the house!

Usually the girls would be watching cartoons with Brian at 9:00am on a Saturday morning but for some reason they were up in the office with me. Thank goodness they were. The tree had broken in the living room window and glass was all the way across the room, on the couch, everywhere.

When we opened the front door all you could see was tree! We have a very large tree in the front yard and for some reason the top of the tree broke off, that large limb is just the top of the tree.

That tree top put two holes in the roof, broke two windows and three storm windows, tore off one shutter and dented up another. It dented up the handrail, torn off my flag pole, mangled the gutter, and scratched up the siding.

All things that can be fixed... because we are all o.k.

Corners of my home - Garden Bed

We have a lot of bunnies in our yard and last year they chewed through my netting, so this year we stepped it up a notch! We had picked up this bed frame from the trash curb a while ago, I had plans to make a bench for the yard. But then we had the idea to use it for our garden bed... get it "bed"... I know a bit cheesy. But it was free wood! Brian painted it white to match our picket fence and lined it with chicken wire. I think it looks cute and it should keep those pesky rabbits out of our little garden!

Corners of my home - Backyard Loveiness

These are my neighbor's roses growing so pretty on our fence!

YUM...The lettuce is growing, we have to cage everything,
we have a rabbit family living in our backyard!
