The Fairy Tale Life...

Well, I'm sure this is not how Snow White thought things would end up and some days I feel her pain. Are any of us doing what we thought we would?

I remember in high school, I was not going to have any kids and I was going to be a business woman... suit, briefcase, high heals and all. In junior high I was going to move to New York with my friend Nancy and become cops like Cagney & Lacey. In elementary school I was going to be an art teacher.

Life sends us on paths we might not have expected but somehow I know it's the right path.
Plus, can you imagine me wielding a gun... yeah right!

Check out this site for more great photos of princesses from fairy tale living in current times.

Upcycle - t-shirt to baby caps

I made these recently for two of my cousins who just had new baby boys. They are very easy to do and I think super cute, you can tie a knot at the top but I think they look cute without the knot. Here is a link to the PDF pattern I found online.

My neighbors cook treats!

Twice this month I have been surprised with yummy treats from my neighbors! About two weeks ago one left a coffee cake type bread with nuts and a sweet topping at my doorstep around 9:00 at night. Then yesterday little Henry and his Mom knocked on our door with a bag of chocolate chip/banana cookies, yum-O!

Either they are sweet neighbors who love to bake and share or they are plotting to fatten me up! We are so lucky to live on a great street!

University City Lion - Visits the Library

He is done, they picked him up last Monday and took him to an auto body shop to get a clear car coating. I was so excited to see him and the other lions on Saturday for the lion scavenger hunt. But I was crushed to see that he had already been vandalized, within just 24 hours! Someone had pulled off his glasses, twisted them up and left them on the ground. My dad had worked so hard on those glasses!

I enjoyed working on my lion and I am very happy with how he turned out, he actually looked like how I pictured in my mind which doesn't always work out that way.

He will be in front of University City library until September 12th, then he will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The Bunnies have multiplied

I have bunnies on the brain, we always seem to have at least 3 in the backyard and are eating my newly planted hostas, ugghhh, they are so cute but soooo annoying at the same time! I think we have one of those love, hate relationships.

I guess they have invaded my brain since I got a whim to make this bunch to sell in my esty shop. They are upcycled from clean baby socks and these sweeties will not munch on your hostas!

Movie Review: Up

We took the girls to see Disney's Up this weekend and I have to give it an A. This movie made me laugh and cry within the first 20 minutes. It is a movie with humor, heart and also action packed!

Amelia did asked me if she could go to sleep during the last 20 minutes but I think with waiting for the movie to start, all the previews, the pre-movie short "Partly Cloudy" and then the 96 minute movie she was tired of watching the big screen.

Brian and I might have liked it a bit more than the girls. I loved the the short "Partly Cloudy is was sooooo funny, so if you see "UP" make sure you are on time, you don't want to miss this little gem!

University City Lion - lots of shading

Working on the lion again, not sure how many hours I have spent on him total but I know I can only do 1.5 - 2 hours at a stretch before I get artistically spent and my back starts to hurt. I worked on his shading last night for 2 hours. My dad is working on welding his copper reading glasses for me.

Tomorrow more shading and painting his eyes. The eyes make me nervous, they have to be perfect or they will look lame... I only have a few more days to get him done!

Curly hair

I didn't always have curly hair, it was fairly straight with a slight wave in it until I hit age 13, then poof it was curly. I expect it was my teen hormones or maybe that first Micheal Jackson inspired home perm my Mom gave me over the kitchen sink? But ever since that age... curly hair... that is how people know me and I am often mistaken for someone else who also has brown curly hair.

I have always embraced my curly hair and have a routine to get it looking nice, wash everyday, mouse, blow dry and a few back curls (the back is a bit straighter than the top now so I have to curl the back a bit to match the front).

Some days I think how nice it would be to wake up, run a comb through my hair and go. I don't own a comb or a brush because using these tools on my hair results in a frizzy afro! I'm not kidding on this one!  I wonder if Anna or Amelia will get my curly hair someday... we will have to wait and see.
