Narwhal Whales

I think these whales are so fascinating with their long thin twisted tusk. It looks like they stole it from the unicorn... no wonder they are called the unicorns of the sea. Sadly they could become endangered because they are hunted for these magical looking tusk that have been sold for up to $10,000 each. Here is a short video about them.

I made this upcycled guy for the craft show in September, isn't he fun!

Price check on aisle 3

I will be entering my second craft show ever this September... the last one was back in high school... years ago!

This is a show (2010 Green Homes Festival) put on by the MO Botanical Graden & St. Louis Earthways Center, which show people how to live and build green. All my items for this show will be made with upcycled fabrics, ribbons, etc.

I am excited and have started to make my stock pile for the show. I made these three baby booties. But I'm not sure how much to price them. Can you help, what do you think I should price these handmade, eco-friendly goodies?

Please leave me a comment below with your thoughts. Thank you!

California Bans Plastic Bags

I am excited to read: "California Plastic Bag Ban Approved by Senate Environment Committee". I always use my fabric bags and feel so guilty if I forget them. But I know so many people don't even own fabric bags, this will give them the gentle push they need to help our environment and the animals that live here with us. I hope this will spread quickly to the other states.

Anthropomorphic Loveliness

I created this sweet dear/deer yesterday and I love her. She has a very mysterious feel to her and you can't take your eyes off her. I will be listing her along with some other new anthropomorphic prints in my etsy shop next week. I'm very excited about these!

What the ? - Booty Pop

I am starting a new blog category called "What the ?" Lately it seems there are so many goofy products out there that make me stop in my tracks or burst out laughing.

I saw this in the Bed Bath and Beyond mailer and was not sure what a Booty Pop is... I have not seen it on TV yet (thank you tivo). I looked it up and as you can see it is basically a padded bra for your butt! Last I heard America is one of the fattest countries in the world, so who is buying this?

I went to the Booty Pop website and watched the video. Brian and I laughed at the ladies wearing these things. It totally does not look natural, the pads are in the wrong place. Do we really need one more thing to falsify our lives?
I just picture a college age girl getting close with her new boyfriend. He grabs her padded booty butt and he is thinking... what the ?

Ostrich Prison Inmates

I love playing in photoshop, you can create your own magical world. Here is my latest ostrich creation that goes along with him and her in their wacky (but formal) ostrich world. I think these could inspire a twilight zone episode... not pig people but ostrich people.

Product Review - Kleenex Hand Towel Review

This is not really a product review since I have not purchased or used this item. It is more of a product observation. I saw the commercial for these Kleenex Hand Towels and was very bothered by the thought of them. I just don't see them as being a "green" item. When we know the effects of all the trash that is thrown away it really surprises me when companies come out with a products that is so anti planet friendly (they are not even made with recycled materials, they are made with 100% virgin fiber/trees.

I figure a family of four (like mine with two young children) would use about 20 - 30 of these a day. Ugh! I just couldn't do it. I know in public restrooms a product like this is necessary. But in a home where I could put a fresh towel out daily and never add trash to our planet or cut down trees... there is no contest... it's cloth hand towels for us.

Movie Review: Toy Story 3

We are big Pixar fans, before kids we would go to the theater to see their movies. Now we have a extra good excuse to see the kid movie, our two kids ages 4 & 6.
I was not sure how the third Toy Story movie would go, what could they do? But Pixar did not let us down. We laughed, cried and we were on the edge of our seats just like all their movies. They have the story formula nailed down! Then add in the awesome computer animation and their movies are gold! We give "Toy Story 3" one a big A!

Happy Birthday Amelia

I can't believe Amelia is 6 today!

Here is a list of her favorites right now (this list will more than likely change in a month)

color: purple, pink & red
book: All of them
t.v show: George of the Jungle
movie: Planet 51
activity: Go to the movies
food: Chicken & Baby Bits (aka Bagel bites)
treat: Bubble Gum
sport: Soccer

In these short 6 years she has given me so much joy, a small amount of the normal kid grief and the knowledge that I am so lucky to be the Mama to this sweet girl. I am blessed to have her in my life!
